We did not cut this one. Vintage stones reach us through estate dealers and trade partners we have bought from for years- diamonds shaped by hand decades or centuries ago, that survived long enough to be sold again. Softened facet edges, a culet sitting slightly off center, proportions no modern machine would produce. That history is the one thing we cannot make ourselves.

Shaped before electric light, to catch candleflame rather than scatter it. Small table. Tall crown. Deep pavilion. An open culet that lets light pool instead of splinter. A modern round is engineered for maximum return- this was cut by hand, by eye, for warmth, by someone who never saw where it would end up.
