Asscher cut melee is chosen by the millimeter and weighed by the carat. This chart translates between the two, so you can plan a band, a halo or a cluster before you order. Every size is calibrated to ±0.15mm and sorted by hand under the loupe.

Settings are built around millimeters, not carats. Order to the seat size your setter or CAD calls for, then use the weight column to plan the budget.
Wide corners, stepped rings
The Asscher was first cut in Amsterdam in 1902. It is a square step cut with wide cut corners, which give it an octagonal outline, and its steps run in rings toward the center, so the stone reads in layers rather than flashes.
Weight follows the depth
A step cut carries its weight in depth and corner size, so two Asschers of the same size can weigh differently. Counts here assume standard proportions. Every stone is a natural diamond, screened for natural origin before it ships.
How melee is sold
Retail orders are sold per the piece price shown. Trade orders are invoiced by the carat on the actual weight of your parcel, and we contact you first if the total differs from the estimate by more than 10%. Melee is final sale and not available on trade memo.
